- A file can be considered infected it there is a number of lines present. A clean IonCube file only contains a few lines of the program.
- In case a file is infected by the malware, one cannot see the ioncube.com domain. The true IonCube files always have the domain name mentioned in it.
- The researchers have also come up with the observation that only alphanumeric characters are present in the program. A real file never contains an only alphanumeric newline.
- According to the researchers, the harmful code can efficiently infect any website right from the server running PHP.
Process Of Mitigation
The process of mitigation of the IonCube malware infected file can be done by the administrators. Researchers suggest the admins do a process of site-wide scanning.
